Review: IAMSUMMER Tour with The HBK Gang

Friendship is like any other relationship and is cultivated through trial, error, love, forgiveness and dedication. The story of HBK Gang is no different. Friends from Richmond, CA (not VA) grew a brotherhood that now enables them to live their dreams touring around the country. Pushing their talents to the forefront each member promotes a cohesive individually that has attracted fans by the hundreds of thousands.

The IAMSummer tour slide through San Francisco August 27th, 2016 that featured a line up of: Dave Steezy, Skipper, Show Banga, Kool John, and finished with headliner IAMSU!. Energy was high, or maybe the contact in the venue made it feel that way. Though under the banner of HBK each member rep their own initiatives. In a world where individuality usually separates, in the world of HBK it unifies them.

Each performer added to the build up. Dave Steezy kicked of with tons of fashionable energy and was sure to acknowledge and praise his mom. Skipper (“Gettin’ It”) came out amped with smooth delivery. He delighted fans by bringing out famed unicorn, Jay Ant to perform a song or two.

Show Banga (“I Been That”) maneuvered through technical difficulties during his stage show, but compensated (the ladies at least) by bringing out Sage The Gemini.

The vibes kept rolling as Kool John (“Blue Hunnids”) took everyone to $HMOP city. He featured Young Bari (“So Mobby”) as his spotlight performer in addition to his DJ (Daghe Digital) who was as much apart of the performance as Kool John himself. With everyone entranced either by choice or force, Su took the stage with a full band and singers (Rossi & 1OAK). He performed notable favorites “Famous,” “Gucci,” “Only That Real,” and like all good performers encouraged crowd participation.  The entire night was high energy and great to see young men collaborate and celebrate each other.
